The redcurrant flowers in April and May with greenish, bowl-shaped flowers in hanging racemes. The nectar is exposed and easy to reach. In cool April weather the bees fly little, and it is precisely then that the racemes later set fruit patchily. An apiary in the garden pays off directly in the berry yield.
