Panicle hydrangea

Hydrangea paniculata

The panicle hydrangea flowers from July to September with large white panicles that later take on a pink flush. Unlike many mophead hydrangeas, fertile flowers also sit between the showy sterile flowers, and only these provide anything. Varieties with loose panicles are therefore visited, double ones hardly at all. A supplementary forage for gardens in late summer. British measurements give around 34 micrograms of sugar per flower per day.
