Black-eyed Susan flowers from July to September with yellow ray florets around a dark brown, domed centre. It comes from North America, is usually grown as a biennial and is a regular component of many flowering mixtures. The disc consists of hundreds of individual florets that open one after another, so that a single flower head yields for weeks.
