Rough hawkbit flowers from June to September in poor meadows, pastures and on banks. It resembles the dandelion, but has unbranched, roughly hairy stalks and flowers much later. It provides plenty of pollen and useful nectar and keeps the forage going in poor meadows once the first mowing is over. British measurements give around 6 micrograms of sugar per flower per day, around 2,532 pollen grains per flower and a nectar yield of around 38 kilograms of sugar per hectare per year.
