Nipplewort flowers from June to September with many small yellow flower heads in loose panicles. It grows by hedges, fences, garden edges and on rubble and is usually overlooked. The flower heads open in the morning and close early. It is a small but steady supplementary forage wherever greenery is allowed to remain. British measurements give around 0 micrograms of sugar per flower per day, around 575 pollen grains per flower and a nectar yield of around 3 kilograms of sugar per hectare per year.
