Purpletop vervain flowers from July into October with small violet flower clusters on tall, thin stems. It comes from South America, is usually annual in our region and self-seeds in mild locations. It flowers until the frost and is then heavily thronged by honeybees and butterflies. British measurements give around 19 micrograms of sugar per flower per day.
