The myrtle flowers from May to July with white flowers from which a tuft of long stamens protrudes. It is an evergreen shrub of the maquis and was formerly used as bridal decoration. It offers little nectar, but plenty of pollen. In Sardinia and Corsica it is part of the summer forage.
