Clary sage flowers in June and July with large, pale violet inflorescences above sturdy leaf rosettes. It is biennial, strongly scented and is grown for oil production. The flowers are built for bumblebees; honeybees take the nectar from the side and also collect pollen. In the garden it yields over several weeks.
