The Bay Willow flowers in May and June, making it the last of the native willows to flower. Its glossy leaves are reminiscent of laurel, and the catkins are strikingly fragrant. It grows in bogs, carr woodland and on wet woodland edges. For the apiary it is a late willow flow which, unlike its relatives, only comes after fruit blossom.
