The Honey Locust flowers in June with inconspicuous, greenish spikes that are strongly scented. It comes from North America, is armed with long thorns on the trunk and is planted as a heat-tolerant street tree. Despite the plain flowers it provides nectar very well and is heavily worked. For urban apiaries it is an underrated early summer flow.
