The Creeping Willow flowers in April and May and remains a low shrub, often only knee-high. It grows in dunes, heaths and wet meadows and spreads by creeping shoots. Its small catkins provide pollen and some nectar. In open sandy landscapes it is one of the few early forage plants of all.
