The Osier flowers in March and April, usually a few days after the goat willow. It grows as a tall shrub on banks and in floodplains and used to be cut for wickerwork. The male catkins provide plenty of pollen, along with some nectar. Where it grows in rows along ditches, it extends the first willow flow by a good week.
