Common Figwort flowers from June to August with small, reddish-brown jug-shaped flowers in loose panicles. It grows on woodland paths, in clearings and on stream banks and is usually overlooked. The flowers are well filled with nectar and are visited regularly mainly by wasps, but also by honeybees.
