The Tuberous Pea flowers from June to August with bright pinkish-red, strongly scented flowers on field margins and embankments. Its underground tubers used to be eaten as earthnuts. It likes lime and climbs through the cereal crops. The flowers are well filled with nectar and are worked continuously.
