The Candle Larkspur flowers in June and July with long blue flower spikes that grow over a metre tall. After cutting back it often flowers again in late summer. The nectar sits deep in the spur, which is why mainly bumblebees reach it. Honeybees mostly collect the abundant pollen. British measurements give around 61 micrograms of sugar per flower per day.
