Glory-of-the-snow flowers in March and April with sky-blue star-shaped flowers that lighten to white towards the centre. It comes from western Turkey and naturalises in lawns and under shrubs. Because it comes up shortly after the crocuses, it extends the early supply and provides pollen and nectar for the growing brood. British measurements give around 298 micrograms of sugar per flower per day.
