Great Masterwort flowers from June to August with star-shaped flower heads above a ring of pointed bracts. It grows in mountain forests and damp meadows and is found in many perennial beds. The tiny individual flowers are openly accessible and are used by honeybees, wild bees and beetles alike. British measurements give around 18 micrograms of sugar per flower per day.
