Goat's Rue flowers from June to August with pale blue or white racemes and grows over a metre tall. It comes from south-eastern Europe, has become naturalised on banks and roadsides and was the source plant for a well-known diabetes drug. It flowers for a long time, provides nectar well and is heavily worked by honeybees and bumblebees.
