Creeping thyme flowers from May to July and forms flat, dense cushions on rock outcrops, poor grassland, and in rock gardens. It flowers earlier than broad-leaved thyme and is also planted as a lawn substitute. Despite the tiny flowers, a lot comes together in one cushion, and honey bees and wild bees are constantly on it. British measurements give around 25 micrograms of sugar per flower per day, around 14,116 pollen grains per flower and a nectar yield of around 16 kilograms of sugar per hectare per year.
