Flax

Linum usitatissimum

Flowering period
May–August
Nectar
gering
Pollen
gering

Flax flowers from May to August and provides only small amounts of nectar and pollen. It is annual and is grown as a fibre and oil crop; the flowers usually open only in the morning. By midday they have often already faded. For the colony it is therefore hardly a forage source, despite large areas under cultivation.
