Field Eryngo flowers from July to September on dry grassland, sheep pastures and hot embankments. It is rigid, spiny and grey-green and breaks off in autumn to roll across the land as a tumbleweed. Its small flower heads are well filled with nectar and are an important late summer forage source on dry sites.
