Motherwort flowers from June to August on walls, rubble sites and in cottage gardens. It grows over a metre tall and bears its pink flowers in dense whorls along the stem. As an old medicinal plant for heart complaints, it used to be found in every monastery garden. It provides plenty of nectar and is heavily worked.
