The Bay Laurel flowers in March and April with small, yellowish clusters of flowers in the leaf axils. It is dioecious; male and female flowers sit on separate plants. In southern Europe it grows as a shrub or tree, here it is kept in a tub. The flowers provide some nectar and useful pollen in early spring.
