The Tasmanian blue gum flowers from autumn into winter with thick, white tufts of stamens. It comes from Tasmania and is grown over large areas in Portugal and Spain for paper production. For beekeeping there it is a mainstay: the honey is dark and malty and comes at a time when hardly anything else is in flower.
